My hens wont lay eggs?

they were expected to lay eggs about a week and a half ago and still nothing. ive read about using fake eggs to show them where to lay, and that the feed stores sell them, but the closest feed store is a 45 minute drive, so a egg isnt worth it. could i just hard boil a egg and use that? or is that the stupidest thing youve heard? also, any other ideas to get them to lay would be much appreciated.
